Dis/Rep is an accelerated program focused on experiential learning and critical conversations around Disability and Accessibility. Produced yearly since 2020, and funded as part of Portland's Office of Community and Civic Life's Civic Dialogue program, Dis/Rep has become an important way for professionals and community members to experience a learning space that considers access beyond compliance.

Taking part in Dis/Rep workshops will help you develop skills for improving accessibility in meetings, events, and other social gatherings.

What Participants Have Said

In these workshops, I have witnessed personally recounted stories that have left me digesting the experiences of disability at a much deeper level than I can access through reading alone. They resonate profoundly and they make me see some of the ways in which I need and want to change myself.

They give constant reminders that however you want to participate is fine, move at your own pace, turn your camera off while not speaking if you want to. They say these things slightly differently each time, which really drives home their sincerity that you can come as you are and ask for what you need.

I felt like this was exactly the place to be and with exactly the right people to teach the information and to teach it in a way that 100% brought theory into practice.
